1. Budget specification research project

Kindly note that failure to comply with our financing conditions may result in a rejection of the application.

The Hanarth Fonds contributes financially to the research, but will not finance the whole research. Staff costs should be based on the NWO scale of salaries (for UMCs) for scientific as well as supporting staff of the (international) participating organizations.

Costs that are taken into consideration for funding are:

• personal costs for the execution of the project 
• NEW: overhead costs up to a maximum of 10% of personnel costs (per year)
• open access publication costs (up to a maximum of € 10,000 per project)
• cost needed for the AI analyses, for example: software, licenses and hiring of AI computing services and required hardware for this purpose (up to a maximum of € 50,000 per project)
• data stortage costs (up to a maximum of € 5,000 per year)
• personal budget for (among other things) participation in conferences (and related costs for travel and stay) up to a maximum € 1,500 per FTE per year (applicable as of 0.5 FTE or more and maximum amount will be pro-rated)

Costs that are not eligible for financing are:

• personnel costs of the main applicant (unless it will be demonstrated that it is required that the main applicant performs execution activities for the project)
• indirect costs such as project management
• costs for FTE from both scientific project staff and non-scientific project staff, who are appointed to the project, to perform administrative or educational tasks, supervise other projects or tasks in the context of patient care
• housing and office costs
• employers and declarations of intent
• costs of knowledge transfer patents
• costs of infrastructural facilities, such as the design of laboratories, unless approved and allocated under equipment costs in the project budget
• costs for purchase and depreciation for general laboratory equipment (for example GPUs, cell sorters and microscopes) unless this has been approved and allocated under equipment costs in the project budget
• generic software
• costs for renting or purchasing of hardware, like desktop computers, laptops, notebooks and other administrative purposes
• investment costs voor GPU's, calculation clusters, workstations, etc.
• (indirect) costs for collecting new data
• costs for molecular/laboratory analyses
• costs for third parties (for example for performing benchmarks)
• costs associated with audits
